AVANTE!!

Hyundai will soon launch the Avante sedan in India to replace the phased out Elantra. The Avante was displayed at the recently held Delhi Auto Expo 2008 (see pictures). The Avante would be launched with a 2 litre DOHC petrol engine and a 1.6 litre CRDi diesel engine and priced between Rs. 9-11 lakh. This pricing would pit the Avante against successful sedans like the Honda Civic, Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla and the Chevrolet Optra. The car looks rather bland when compared with the space age Civic, something which most customers are likely to do. The Avante looks good head on but the grille design dissapoints and so does the bumper which could have been more chiselled. The Avante looks its best from the rear with the corolla type tail lamps and a chunky bumper. The side has a wave crease running along which is in sync with the way the C pillar flows into the boot section.

I find the Avante rather unexciting in the way it looks but it would deliver when it comes to interiors and features which are likely to be aplenty as in the phased out Elantra, giving buyers value for money.
